39 Days 39 Films

THE 39 STEPS TO GO FROM FILM N00B TO FILM DUDE!

Hello Filmiverse!

After months of waiting, I have managed to secure a place on the NYFA Screenwriting course in LA! (Goodbye savings, hello sun, etc, etc). In striving for this aim, I have one small problem – I am a film noob. I know loads about plays, short films, advertising, viral videos, but barely anything about real classic cinema. What I intend to do is watch one classic film per day, over the next 39 days until my course starts to try and turn myself from film flop into film top (I want to set the pun bar very low to start with…they can only get better right?). I have been given a list of films by a friend, which will make up the original bulk of my list. Then, I am hoping that you the people may be able to help me on my quest to acquiring some kind of film knowledge! If you have any suggestions which may help, then please do leave a comment below! I will write a new, short, easy to read film review after each film and then will write a longer review each 7 days to update you on how much progress I am making in my challenge!

  2. Sunset Boulevard

Each film contains a link to the relevant Wikipedia article, so I will study the films (the names of the actors/director, styles of camerawork, etc) in order to gain a greater understanding overall.
